'Dr. Who' dominates Britain's National Television Awards

"Dr. Who" racked up three awards and beat "Desperate Housewives" for popular drama honors at Britain's National Television Awards in London.

The BBC1 sci fi series also notched a best actor award for star Christopher Eccleston and best actress nod for Billie Piper Tuesday night, the BBC reported Wednesday.

"EastEnders" won the award for most popular serial drama and Anthony Cotton was crowned most popular newcomer.

"X Factor" judge Sharon Osbourne beat Simon Cowell for most popular expert on TV while the show won the award for most popular entertainment program.

The most popular entertainment presenter award was shared by the team of Ant and Dec and "Little Britain" was honored as most popular comedy show.

Former "Naked Chef" Jamie Oliver got the award for the most popular factual program for "Jamie's School Dinners."
