Animal authorities in Colorado said a $500 reward was being offered for information about 40 to 70 rabbits abandoned at the side of a road.
Animal patrol officers said the bunnies were found near a Mr. Biggs Family Fun Center in Colorado Springs, and were rescued Sunday by workers from Dream Power Animal Rescue and other witnesses who spotted the rabbits, The (Colorado Springs) Gazette reported Tuesday.
Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region spokeswoman Erica Meyer said the group was offering a $500 reward for information about the origins of the rabbits.
"We are investigating the case and trying to find the people responsible," she said.
Meyer said the exact number of rabbits is unclear, as several of the animals were rescued from the scene by individuals. She said the Humane Society is partnering with Dream Power to care for the rabbits and ensure they receive any needed veterinary attention.
