Los Angeles County officials say they gratefully cashed the $10,000 check they received from an anonymous donor in the Pacific Northwest.

The cashier's check came in the mail last month with a note asking the county to put it to good use.
"In this time of economic difficulties, governments need all the help they can get," the note said. "Please put this anonymous check to good use. God bless you."
The county Auditor-Controller's Office reported the donation, which was mailed in Everett, Wash., to the county Board of Supervisors. The board will formally vote to add the money to the general fund at their July 5 meeting, the Los Angeles Times said Saturday.
Assistant Auditor-Controller John Naimo told the newspaper the county gets donations from members of the public on occasion, but they are usually earmarked for a specific purpose and definitely make the donor's identity known.
