When is an announcement not an announcement?  When Donny Osmond makes it apparently.

Osmond has clarified his recent comments on which he implied he would be participating in the upcoming season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars.

"I did The Bonnie Hunt Show today and I alluded to the fact that I am considering doing Dancing With the Stars," Osmond told Entertainment Tonight Monday evening. "After all I can't let [sister Marie Osmond] upstage me, however, there is no official offer yet."

Donny and Marie both sat down with Bonnie Hunt on Monday for an interview that will be part of today's The Bonnie Hunt Show broadcast. During the interview, the topic shifted to Marie's experience as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars' fifth season and whether or not Donny would ever follow in his sister's footsteps.

"Well I guess I am making an announcement. I'll say I am seriously considering doing it, let's put it that way," Donny told Hunt with a laugh. "I guess I just let the cat out of the bag!"

"I can't let my sister upstage me," he continued. "Besides, who do you think taught her how to dance?"

"That not fair!" Marie responded. "The men do half the work!"

"That’s why I'm doing it, baby!" Donny said back jokingly. "It is going to be very difficult because I am going to be doing Vegas on top of doing Dancing with the Stars."

"I just want to see him in stretchy pants!" Marie teased back.

Dancing with the Stars' eighth season will premiere with a two-hour performance episode on Monday, March 9 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC. The network -- which doesn't comment on casting reports prior to each season's cast announcement -- is expected to reveal Dancing with the Stars' seventh-season cast in February.
