The former U.S. Secretary of Defense is booked to appear on the Feb. 21 edition of the late-night chat show.
The secretary of defense during the administrations of President Gerald Ford and President George W. Bush, Rumsfeld is the second longest-serving defense secretary in United States history after Robert McNamara and the first to serve two non-consecutive terms in that role, CBS noted in a news release Monday.
His book "Known and Unknown: A Memoir," reflecting on his life and his half-century career in politics, was recently published.
