The trial began Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, before Judge David Minning. Author Gary K. Wolf is suing The Walt Disney Co. for $7 million, the amount he claims the company owes him in royalties from the 1988 movie, based on his novel "Who Censored Roger Rabbit?"
"This case is about self-serving, catch-me-if-you-can Hollywood accounting by the defendant," said Wolf's attorney J. Larson Jaenicke, the Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday. "For 10 years, (Wolf) has tried to resolve his differences with this company, and he finally decided he had no choice. If he was going to get paid fairly, he had to file the lawsuit."
Attorneys for Disney told the jury Wolf owes Disney anywhere between $500,00 and $1 million, due to an accounting error that was only discovered during the company's preparation for the trial.
