The teenage children of a Southern California developer are seeking an increase in the amount of support he pays -- a very big increase.

The lawyer for Christie and David Bren says they should receive support based on the standard state formula calculated for Orange County developer Donald Bren's income. Hillel Chodos says his arithmetic makes that about $2.2 million a month for each of the children, The Los Angeles Times reported.
Bren's lawyers said he already pays about $17,000 a month for each of the children. Bren never married their mother, Jennifer Gold, although he always acknowledged the children as his and paid support for them.
Bren has said he will pay whatever support the court orders. But he has balked at releasing details about his financial condition.
A hearing is scheduled next week.
"A child can't eat a million dollars worth of food. I understand that," Chodos said. "But it is always a function of what the father, the paying parent, is able to provide. Maybe they need a yacht like Donald Bren has, maybe a plane like Bren has, maybe they need a house in Newport Beach and in Beverly Hills."
