With the exception of NBC's Olympics coverage and Couric's final shows, the gap was the greatest between the morning competitors in the past two years, the New York Daily News reported.
"Today" with Matt Lauer, Ann Curry, Al Roker and Natalie Morales averaged 5.6 million viewers; "Good Morning America" averaged 4.5 million and "The Early Show" on CBS had 2.4 million.
Meredith Vieira will replace Couric on "Today" in September. Couric is taking the anchor chair at the "CBS Evening News."
