Demi Lovato chose not to attend the 2014 People's Choice Awards on Wednesday night and many of her so-called "fans" are pretty pissed off about it.

A number of Lovato's Twitter followers posted angry tweets about her decision not to show up to the awards ceremony in Los Angeles when she had been nominated for four awards and actually won two of them -- Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Music Fan Following.

"Damn... Just hopped online to check twitter and some 'fans' are being really mean :(," the 21-year-old The X Factor judge tweeted Wednesday night in response to the criticism. "I'm not at the PCA's because as I have stated before, I'm taking as much time off this month as possible."

Lovato apparently needed a good break from work and hoped her fans would be respectful of that.

"I haven't taken a substantial amount of time off in a long time and now I am. Thank you for those who voted and understand why I am away," the singer explained, hoping for a win. "If it means anything, I'm still crossing my fingers!! Your support means EVERYTHING to me."

However, Lovato took a little shot at her angry followers in return, saying there are two types of fans and she especially appreciates the real ones.

"There are 'fans' who say they support me, then they hate on me, my personal life and my loved ones....And then there are my LOVATICS!!! THEY are the BEST fans an artist could ever ask for.... I LOVE YOU!!!"

Once Lovato discovered she had won two awards, she took to Twitter again to enthusiastically thank her Lovatics.

"YAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told you my LOVATICS are THAAAA S--TTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M. SO. EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you guys SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!! #FavoriteFemaleArtist #FavoriteMusicFanFollowing #ILOVEMYLOVATICS!!!!!" Lovato subsequently tweeted.

"Btw - the #FavoriteMusicFanFollowing isn't even my award.... It's YOURS!!!!!! Thank you for voting so hard!!!!! #HELLYA2014."

Lovato is reportedly finished with her The X Factor stint after serving as a judge for two seasons. As for Lovato's music career, her first arena tour begins in early February in Vancouver.
