David Yates to direct fifth 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' film

British TV veteran David Yates will direct "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," Warner Bros. Pictures said Wednesday.

Yates gained international attention with award-winning short films and has directed a number of British TV series, including "The Young Visiters."

Yates is "is a great director with a keen visual sense who fills every frame with humanity and compassion for his characters," Producer David Heyman said in a news release. Production on "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" is expected to begin in January 2006 in England.

Work also continued in London on "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," the fourth book and movie about the popular fictional hero created by J.K. Rowling. The movie was set for a mid-November release.
