David Spade talks about his upcoming new Comedy Central show

UPI News Service, 07/16/2005

David Spade says his new show on Comedy Central won't be as snarky as his "Hollywood Minute" segment on "Saturday Night Live."

At least not intentionally, Spade said during this week's Television Critics Association July press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., E! Online reports.

"The Showbiz Show with David Spade" debuts sometime in September, but at this point, it's still a work in progress. Spade was originally signed on to produce the show with former "SNL" writer High Fink, but now he's taken over hosting duties, too.

Spade said the show is in early development stages, but don't look for an elongated version of his Hollywood-bashing "SNL" bit.

"Some people probably weren't too crazy about it," Spade said. "It's not my intent."
