Madrid Real soccer star David Beckham says his former nanny's allegations he and his wife Victoria are in marital trouble was "unbelievable."

His comments came after his marriage came under intense scrutiny following the publication of an interview with Abbie Gibson, 27, his family's former nanny, in the News of the World.

Speaking after a team practice, Beckham, 29, said because of ongoing litigation, he was unable to say too much.

"I find it amazing, quite unbelievable when you've let someone into your home to look after your children, which are Victoria and my most prized possessions, you begin to trust that person," he said.

However, he denied his anger was affecting his on-field ability.

"I'm managing to keep my mind on football without being distracted by what's happening off the pitch because my wife and I are happy," he said.
