Singer Dave Matthews is set to play a musical savant in an upcoming episode of the hit U.S. medical TV series, "House M.D."

The 39-year-old singer -- who had a hit with "Crash" with the Dave Matthews Band -- will play a virtuoso whose life is in danger after he begins suffering seizures, Daily Variety reported.

One of Matthews' musical tracks has been featured on the show, and Matthews has acted in the feature film, "Because of Winn-Dixie."

The episode of "House" featuring Matthews -- scheduled to air in March -- will also mark the directorial debut of one of the show's executive producer Katie Jacobs.

The Dave Matthews Band, which has sold more than 35 million albums, is set to release a new album this summer, Variety said.
