The former U.S. presidential candidate and Emma became the second couple sent home from the ABC reality competition's 23rd season based on the combination of the Dancing with the Stars judges' scores they had received during Monday night's performance show and home viewer votes that were cast afterward.

"My daughter is getting the 15th of October but I can promise you I will look good on the dance floor for her," Rick said following his ouster.

"And I'm doing it for all the veterans out there, and I hope everyone will find a great veterans cause to go help these guys.  We've got one called Advance the Colors that I hope everyone will go take a look at. Thank you guys!"

Talk show host and model Amber Rose and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were the other couple in danger of elimination on Tuesday night prior to Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron's announcement of Rick and Emma's exit, however they were not necessarily the other member of the week's the bottom-two couples based on the judges' scores and America's votes.

Rick and Emma had finished tied for eleventh and last place on Monday night's judging leaderboard after earning 23 out of 40 points for their paso doble routine.

Due to Monday night's U.S. presidential debate, the Dancing with the Stars' broadcast had featured a special abbreviated one-hour format in which the twelve remaining dance couples were paired into six "face-offs" in which two couples were assigned the same style of dance and required to perform them back-to-back.

Dancing with the Stars judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli had then scored the dances -- immediately, without getting to give any commentary on the performances -- and the dancing couple which received higher scores for the dance style won immunity from elimination on Tuesday night.

Vanilla Ice and partner Witney Carson had competed against Rick and Emma in the paso doble face-off. Both couples had received identical scores of 25 points from the judges, resulting in the score of Len -- the judging panel's head judge -- serving as the tiebreaker.

Since Len had given Vanilla Ice a score of 6 points and only given Rick a score of 5 points, Vanilla and Witney had received immunity.

In addition to the rapper and The Vanilla Ice Project star, Dancing with the Stars celebrities Calvin Johnson Jr., Laurie Hernandez, James Hinchcliffe, Maureen McCormick, and Jana Kramer had also won immunity from this week's elimination along with their professional partners during Monday night's performance show

Calvin and partner Lindsay Arnold had faced-off against Little Women: LA star Terra Jole and partner Sasha Farber in a Viennese waltz. The retired NFL wide receiver and Lindsay earned immunity after they received 32 points from the judges compared to Terra and Sasha's 30 points.

Laurie and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy had competed against actress Marilu Henner and partner Derek Hough in a tango face-off. The Olympic gold gymnast and Val earned 31 points from the judges. besting Marilu and Derek's score of 28 points.

James and partner Sharna Burgess had battled Olympic gold swimmer and former What Would Ryan Lochte Do? star Ryan Lochte and partner Cheryl Burke in a cha cha face-off. The professional race car driver and Sharna received 29 points from the judges, topping Ryan and Cheryl's score of 25 points.

Maureen and partner Artem Chigvintsev had gone up against Amber and partner Maksim in a salsa face-off.  The former The Brady Bunch star and Artem earned 28 points from the judges, beating the 25 points Amber and Maksim received.

Jana and partner Gleb Savchenko had competed against iconic singer and producer Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and his partner Allison Holker faced-off in a jive. The country singer and Gleb earned a score of 26 points, just edging out Babyface and Allison's score of 25 points.
