'Dancing with the Stars' ousts Margaret Cho and Louis van Amstel

By Reality TV World staff, 10/06/2010

Dancing with the Stars eliminated actress and comedian Margaret Cho and her professional partner Louis van Amstel during Tuesday night's third live eleventh-season results show on ABC.

Cho and van Amstel were ousted from the competition based on the combination of the Dancing with the Stars judges' scores they received during Monday night's performance show and the home viewer votes that were cast afterwards.

"I thought the judges were really hard on me, but I think you were hard on me because you could see that I am a dancer, for real, and I thank you for that.  I will take that with me forever, thank you so much," Cho said after her elimination.  "I had the best teacher and the best partner, so thank you for the opportunity to dance."

"For her to put her heart out on the dance floor [is] pretty much saying to the rest of the world to just go that vulnerable.  I love you and our journey hasn't ended," van Amstel added.

Cho and van Amstel had finished in tenth and last place on Monday night's judging leaderboard after they performed a samba routine which received only 18 out of 30 possible points from Dancing with the Stars judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli

"I was encouraged at the start... but as the dance progressed you lost your timing and it got a little bit heavy in the legs," Goodman told Cho after the dance.

Teen mom Bristol Palin and partner Mark Ballas were the other couple still in danger of elimination prior to Cho and van Amstel's ouster, however Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron did not specify whether they were the other couple in the bottom two based on the combination of the judges' scoring and home viewer votes from Monday night's performances.

Palin and Ballas had also fared poorly on Monday night and finished in ninth place on the judges' leaderboard after they received 19 points for their foxtrot routine.

Former The Hills star Audrina Patridge and partner Tony Dovolani had topped the judging leaderboard during Monday night's live performance show, ending the two-week reign of actress Jennifer Grey and partner Derek Hough.

Patridge and Dovolani had finished in first place after earning 26 points for waltz routine.

However Grey and Hough didn't fall far and finished in a three-way tie for second place with singer Brandy Norwood and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy as well as former NBA basketball player Rick Fox and partner Cheryl Burke after all three couples performed samba routines which received 24 points.

Fifth place had also represented a tie between recently retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner and partner Anna Trebunskaya and Disney Channel star Kyle Massey and partner Lacey Schwimmer

While Warner and Trebunskaya had performed a foxtrot and Massey and Schwimmer danced a waltz, both couples received 23 points from the judges.

Actress Florence Henderson and partner Corky Ballas and Jersey Shore star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and partner Karina Smirnoff had finished in a tie for seventh place with 20 points each.  Henderson and Ballas danced a waltz while Sorrentino and Smirnoff performed a foxtrot.

Tuesday night's results show also featured the return of previously eliminated singer Michael Bolton -- who has publicly railed against Tonioli since the judge deemed his Week 2 performance to be "probably the worst jive" in the show's history.

Bolton appeared on the show a last-minute replacement for former Britain's Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle, who canceled a previously scheduled musical performance due to illness.   Neither Bolton or Tonioli addressed their feud during his appearance.
