State Sen. Mary Lazich, R-New Berlin, said her bill was the idea of students at Clarendon Avenue School in Mukwonago who started a Facebook page titled "Make Cream Puffs the Official Dessert of Wisconsin," the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Thursday.
The senator's office said the page received strong support from the Wisconsin Bakers Association, which helped publicize the Facebook page across the state.
The office said more than 3.6 million cream puffs have been purchased at Wisconsin State Fairs.
