Police Chief Steven Carl said there was no reason for Nicole Perry, 21, and Richard Nunes, 38, of New Bedford, Mass., to be inside the bakery, where a patrol officer spotted them Tuesday.
"As soon as they saw him, they got a panicked look," Carl told the Boston Herald. "They started to pretend to kiss and pretended they were about to have sex."
Carl said police also seized burglary tools from the couple and a bucket placed under a window to climb into the bakery.
