Corinne Olympios put her relationship with me above everything else, 'The Bachelor' Nick Viall says

By Elizabeth Kwiatkowski, 01/09/2017

Corinne Olympios' bold decision to be the first bachelorette to kiss Nick Viall apparently generated mixed emotions for The Bachelor star.

Corinne, a 24-year-old from Miami, FL, managed to sneak in two conversations with Nick on Night 1 although four girls didn't even have a chance to speak with him at all.

"Corinne was a woman who certainly brought her confidence that night. When she came back for a second conversation, I was a little surprised but at the same time I respected the assertiveness," Nick wrote in his People blog.

But Corinne's second attempt at capturing Nick's attention was a physical one. The blonde beauty stole the first kiss of the season when the Bachelor wasn't even expecting it.

"When I realized that Corinne came back to grab that first kiss I was pretty nervous about it," Nick revealed.

Her bold move had "I'm not here to make friends" written all over it, as many of the bachelorettes watching from a distance found the kiss a little disrespectful and selfish. It was clear Corinne didn't care whom she might offend.

"Out of respect for the other women, I didn't want to do it in a place where they could see," Nick said of the kiss, "but at the same time, I didn't want to make Corinne feel uncomfortable or regret taking a chance."

Nick therefore went for it and never looked back.

"I decided it was as good of a time as any to grab that first kiss with a very beautiful woman," Nick explained in his blog, adding that Corinne's aggressive dating approach spoke volumes.

"I appreciated Corinne being confident enough to take a chance and put her relationship with me above everything else."

Corinne was one of 30 bachelorettes to meet Nick that first night, and she ended up being one of 22 women to receive a rose by the end of the first Rose Ceremony.

"I have always been a risk taker and have always believed the greatest things in life often come with the greatest risks. So, despite my fears and reservations, I knew I had to stay true to myself and follow my heart... I knew all I could do was be myself," Nick said of his journey as the Bachelor.

Nick was prepared to make mistakes and avoid choices designed to please viewers or his bachelorettes at his own expense.

"I wouldn't be the Perfect Ben [Higgins] or a Prince Farming [Chris Soules] and certainly had no chance at being like [Sean Lowe]. But I felt good about the fact that whether people supported me or not -- no one was going to think I wasn't coming into this without my flaws," Nick explained.
