Coldplay won the prizes for song and rock album of the year Sunday at the 51st annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

"This is incredible," Coldplay drummer Will Champion said, as the band took the stage and picked up its song of the year award for "Viva La Vida."

"I'd like to say, first of all, thank you, and sorry to Sir Paul McCartney for blatantly recycling the Sgt. Pepper outfits," Champion added, referring to his group's attire. "Sorry, boss. Also, everyone on Coldplay.com, all of our families and friends and management, thank you very much."

The song also earned the band the Grammy for best pop performance by a duo or group with vocals.

U.S. rock guitarist Joe Satriani filed a plagiarism lawsuit in December against Coldplay, claiming the British rock band lifted parts of an instrumental he composed and used them in "Viva La Vida." The group has denied the allegations.

Coldplay won the rock album of the year Grammy for "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends."

"Thank you very much, everybody," said the band's frontman Chris Martin. "We're not, of course, the heaviest of rock bands, as you may have noticed. We're more of the limestone kind of rock -- a little softer, but just as charming. ... We feel so grateful to be here."
