An Arkansas woman said the Christmas gift she sent to her mother in Florida finally arrived -- a year and six days after it was mailed.

Mary Beth Mauldin, 53, said she mailed a package containing a flannel nightgown to her mother, Mary Lou Shelton of Winter Beach, Dec. 10 of last year and it arrived Dec. 16 of this year, TCPalm.com reported Thursday.
"I laughed," Shelton said.
However, Mauldin said she is upset because the package also contained a gift card which is now expired. She said the card she sent her mother Friday arrived Monday at Shelton's box office in Wabasso.
"We apologize," Postal Service spokeswoman Enola Rice said. "It is not the type of service we try to provide.
"This is highly irregular. It shouldn't have happened." But since the problem was found after delivery, "it would be very difficult to say what occurred," Rice said.
