Charlie Sheen pleaded guilty in an Aspen, Colo., court Monday to a misdemeanor assault charge, but avoided jail time, officials said.

The plea was part of a deal the actor made with prosecutors, stemming from a December 2009 incident involving Brooke Mueller, Sheen's wife and the mother of their twin toddler sons.
Mueller has accused the "Two and a Half Men" star of assaulting her and threatening her.
People.com said Sheen was ordered to spend 30 days in rehab as part of the agreement with prosecutors in which two other charges were dropped.
The actor was sentenced to three months of probation and must complete 36 hours of domestic violence counseling, the Web site said.
