Sources told the New York Post Sheen, 45, was found intoxicated and naked in his room at The Plaza Hotel early Tuesday morning. Furniture had been up-ended, chairs broken and a chandelier damaged during what appeared to be an alcohol and drug-fueled rampage, the insiders said.
The police were called and Sheen was taken to a nearby hospital where he spent the day. He has since been released and flown home to Los Angeles, People.com said Wednesday.
No charges have been filed against him and Sheen's representatives are downplaying the incident, claiming he suffered an adverse reaction to medication.
"Charlie will be working this week doing a cameo role, playing himself, in a small movie as a favor to a friend and has every intention of going back to work on 'Two and a Half Men' on Tuesday," his manager Mark Burg told People.com. "He's looking forward to working."
