The couple have twin 19-month-old sons.
TMZ said the divorce papers state the date of their separation as was Dec. 25 -- the day Sheen was arrested for assaulting Mueller. The "Two and a Half Men" star entered a plea agreement in the case and was sentenced to rehabilitation, probation and domestic-violence counseling.
TMZ said Sheen and Mueller signed a property settlement document in May, in which they divided all their assets and agreed to joint legal custody of their children. Mueller is to have primary physical custody and of the boys and Sheen to get visitation, the document said.
Sheen was back in the news last week when he ended up in a hospital after allegedly being found naked in a trashed New York hotel room. His representative said Sheen had suffered a reaction to medication and would be returning to work.
