No official copies of the segment from Thursday's "Late Show with David Letterman" were posted on either CBS.com or YouTube. Citing sources, The New York Times reported Sunday the segment, 10 minutes long, was taken down at the request of producers with Letterman's production company, Worldwide Pants.

Letterman told his audience Thursday he was the target of a $2 million extortion attempt by someone who threatened to reveal publicly details of his sexual affairs with staffers on his sow.

Robert Joel Halderman, a CBS News employee, was arrested Thursday and pleaded not guilty. He has been released on bail.

Almost as soon as Letterman's explanation aired, copies of it segment were uploaded by YouTube users, the Times said.

CBS didn't flag clips of Stephanie Birkitt's "Late Show" appearances. Birkitt, a former Letterman assistant who had a relationship with him, has appeared regularly on the show, the Times said.
