CBS' 'Survivor: Guatemala' to premiere September 15, cast info continues leaking

By Reality TV World staff, 08/04/2005

CBS announced today that Survivor: Guatemala, the eleventh edition of the long-running reality series, will get a one-week jump on the official start of 2005-2006 television season and premiere on Thursday, September 15 at 8PM ET/PT.

While CBS is withholding any new details about Survivor: Guatemala for now, the network has previously announced that Survivor: Guatemala will feature eighteen contestants (a drop from the twenty featured in Survivor: Palau) who will "embrace the ancient Maya lifestyle" and live in the authentic ruins of a vanished civilization -- a first for a Survivor series.

According to Guatemalan reports, Survivor: Guatemala (which is believed to have just wrapped filming) was allowed to film in the Mayan ruins located within the country's Yaxh national park -- a decision that was not without controversy.

Although CBS won't be revealing any details about Survivor: Guatemala's contestants for several more weeks, that doesn't mean that the show's online spoiling fanatics haven't already started disclosing their own information about the castaways. In addition to last week's discovery that former Dallas Cowboy's quarterback Gary Hogeboom will be competing on Survivor: Guatemala, as of now, online sleuths claim to have uncovered the identities at least six more castaways. Among the additional Survivor: Guatemala contestants that various online spoiler sites allege to have "outed" are Danni Boatwright, a 30-year-old actress/model and former Miss Kansas USA from Tonganoxie, KS; Morgan McDevitt, a 21-year-old model and sorority girl from Sullivan, IL; Brooke Struck, a 26-year-old lawyer from Hood River, OR; Blake Towsley, a 24-year-old model and realtor from Dallas, TX; Rafe Judkins, a 22-year-old recent Brown University graduate from Pittsburgh, PA; and Margaret Bobonich, a 43-year-old woman from Chardon, OH.

In addition to the above model-heavy list of contestants, Internet sites have also been buzzing with reports that Bobby Jon Drinkard and Stephenie LaGrossa -- the hardworking final two members of Survivor: Palau's incompetent Ulong tribe -- have been participating in Survivor: Guatemala, although whether they've actually been allowed to compete as returning contestants remains unclear.
