"As the World Turns" will mark 50 years on the air in 2006, and "Guiding Light" began as a radio serial in 1937.
The network said Tuesday it would continue broadcast episodes of the popular shows for at least two more years, Zap2it.com reported.
"'As the World Turns' and 'Guiding Light' are the foundation on which the No. 1 CBS daytime lineup was built," says Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment. "They have been a part of the CBS family longer than any other scripted program in the history of the network, and we are honored to continue our proud 54 year partnership with Procter & Gamble," which produces both shows.
