The owners of Lumiere Place, a $495 million casino about to open in St. Louis, are looking to hire 120 new employees -- and the homely need not apply.

Cheerleaders, actors and models are invited to apply to be "Ladies and Gents," the comely individuals who will function as cocktail waitresses, bartenders and servers at the casino, and represent their employer at special events, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Sunday.
One of the primary qualifications: a suitable height-weight ratio, the newspaper said. Employees who gain more than 5 percent of their body weight while they work for the company will be sent to counseling.
Finding men and women who live up to the company's standards has been time consuming. Though the company has partnered with a modeling agency to hold casting calls in six cities, only about 12 of the slots have been filled so far.
Ladies and gents who do make the cut, however, enjoy perks like tuition assistance and health club memberships.
The tactic is perfectly legal, the Post-Dispatch said. There is no law barring employers from turning away applicants because of their appearance.
