Sgt. Steve Brody allegedly took 21 Tastykake pastries on separate occasions from the Valero Nice N Easy convenience store, which gives free coffee to uniformed police officers, the Syracuse (N.Y.) Post-Standard reported Thursday.
Court papers said Brody was warned several months ago to stop taking pastries from the store without paying for them, but footage from security cameras installed in the store after the initial thefts allegedly depicts him taking the small pastries on at least 17 occasions after Aug. 18.
Store clerks said they first noticed Brody taking the small cakes in March and reported the officer to their manager, Randy Hobson.
Brody was ticketed by state police Oct. 17 for petit larceny.
Officials at Morrisville State College said Brody remains employed with the school.
An arraignment in Morrisville Village Court was scheduled for Wednesday but was rescheduled for a later date by officials.
