Beaumont city officials responded to complaints from neighbors by ordering the New Life Chapel, located at 451 Seventh Street, to conclude services by 8 p.m., have members off-site by 8:30 p.m. and refrain from using amplified or band music until the facility is sound proofed, The (Riverside) Press-Enterprise reported Thursday.
The Beaumont Planning Commission decided at its Tuesday meeting to modify the church's permit with the conditions as well as ordering it to remove a patio added without city approval.
"From the complaints, neighbors are able to hear from inside their homes," said the city's planning director, Rebecca Deming.
George Lopez, a member of the church, said the congregation would abide by the city's decision.
