The airline said the Monday flight to Houston from Pittsburgh International Airport was scheduled to leave at 8:15 a.m. but was delayed while maintenance crews attempted to fix the busted commode, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Wednesday.
Passenger Rick Stouffer, editor of the online Gas Business Briefing, said passengers were allowed of the plane after about an hour and waited in the terminal while crews worked on the mechanical toilet.
Continental spokeswoman Mary Clark said the plane eventually departed with the restroom closed because crews were unable to repair it. She said two toilets in the coach cabin remained available to passengers during the flight.
