More details are starting to emerge about the four-car crash Bruce Jenner had been involved in this past weekend.

California Department of Motor Vehicles records indicate the driver killed in the Malibu crash, recently identified as a 69-year-old Calabasas woman named Kim Howe, hadn't possessed a valid license since 2007 when it expired, the Los Angeles Times reported.

In addition, all the drivers' cellphone records will reportedly be checked to ensure a vehicle code violation was not committed at the time of Saturday's crash on Pacific Coast Highway. Jenner, a 65-year-old former Olympian, will therefore be asked to sign a release form so authorities can obtain his call and message history.

If any violation is discovered in the investigation, which will likely take months, a driver may be slapped with more serious charges such as vehicular manslaughter.

Jenner said in a statement to People he's "devastated" about Howe's death and plans to be cooperative with police in this process -- which will also include detectives examining the vehicles, re-creating the crash on paper, interviewing witnesses, and looking through videos and photographs, the LA Times reported.

According to authorities, the crash occurred when Howe's Lexus hit a Prius that had been stopped or slowed down on the highway. Jenner was driving his black Escalade behind the Lexus at the time, so he rear-ended the vehicle in front of him. Jenner's impact pushed the Lexus across the traffic divider into the path of an onconing Hummer, causing a head-on collision.

Howe was the driver of the Lexus and allegedly died at the scene. Five others were reportedly hurt but not seriously injured.

Jenner was being followed by paparazzi at the time of the accident, according to the LA Times, but it appeared he wasn't trying to outrun them.

Sgt. Philip Brooks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told the newspaper that Jenner -- who has made headlines in recent weeks for his desire to become a woman -- had been photographed holding his phone, but it's unclear when the picture was taken.

"My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident," Jenner told People yesterday. "It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time... I am praying for them."
