Computer consultant James Creffield, 39, was climbing in a nature preserve in Singapore, where he is based, when he fell from a low height and was killed, the Straits Times reported.
Ironically, Creffield and his wife, Geetha, survived the December tsunami that destroyed the Krabi, Thailand, resort where they were staying.
"On Saturday, it was the perfect day for climbing," Geetha Creffield told Sky News. "He was having fun with his close friends. He was a happy man."
