The unnamed publicist said the rumored "Office" appearance by Gervais has not been confirmed but the comedian has not "ruled out the opportunity," The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.
The Independent recently reported Gervais, who played office manager David Brent in the British version, would be making an appearance on the U.S. show.
"The Office" was adapted into a U.S. series by "Saturday Night Live" writer Greg Daniels. The U.S. version features comedian Steve Carell as office manager Michael Scott.
Gervais will host the Golden Globe awards Sunday, the Telegraph noted. He also has appeared in the TV series "Extras" and his movie credits include "Ghost Town" and "The Invention of Lying."
