British charity I Can has developed a plan to help up the number of toddlers who can speak proper English when they enter primary school.

Children will receive speech lessons through the Early Talk program at 200 children's centers across Britain, The Daily Mail reported Thursday.
I Can said the amount of time young children spend watching TV has severely damaged their ability to communicate and one in 10 children in Britain has a communication disability.
The Early Talk program will use signing, gestures, symbols and pictures to expand children's vocabulary.
Parents will also be taught how to interact with their children using speaking and listening skills.
Clare Geldard of I Can said there is a growing number of children with speech difficulties.
"If a child is not talking before they go to school, they won't be able to springboard into academic learning," she said.
