Bret Michaels has left the hospital less than two weeks after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage that could have cost him his life.

"Mr. Michaels was indeed a lucky person, a very lucky person," said Dr. Joseph Zabramski said at a Tuesday press conference Tuesday at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, People reported.

"He's improving. I really expect that he will fortunately make a 100 percent recovery. He's just one of those lucky people -- 10 to 20 percent who make a complete recovery and can resume all of their normal activities."

Zabramski did not reveal details on when Michaels left the hospital or where he's currently receiving additional treatment due to federal privacy laws, according to People, which added the former Rock of Love star and current The Celebrity Apprentice participant will continue to have his vital signs and neurological status monitored "very closely" while also receiving physical therapy for the next few weeks.

"He's still very sick right now [but] he's a very determined person,"  Zabramski told reporters. "His level of consciousness [has] returned to what we call normal."

Michaels -- who has diabetes -- suffered the hemorrhage on April 21 while he was recovering from an emergency appendectomy. He subsequently underwent a CAT scan and two angiograms to check for the source of bleeding, according to People, which added an operation was deemed unnecessary.

"We're pretty confident he does not have an aneurysm or other problems with his blood vessels that could result in a recurrent hemorrhage," said Zabramski.

Due to Michaels' diabetes, he can not receive steroids to lessen the pain because they can also "make glucose levels go out of control so unfortunately [Bret has] had to suffer," Zabramski told reporters.

Michaels also suffered a side effect from the brain hemorrhage called hyponatremia -- a lack of sodium in the body that can lead to seizures.

It was recently reported that Michaels may be able to attend the live The Celebrity Apprentice third-season finale on May 23.
