Cooper is best known for his work in "The Hangover," "The A-Team" and "Limitless."
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has signed on to direct the new edition of the supernatural revenge flick, "The Crow," E! News said.
The original version starred Brandon Lee, who was killed during a freak accident while filming. A blank cartridge was fired in the 28-year-old actor's direction and a piece of bullet flew out with it, hitting him in the abdomen and lodging in his spine.
Director Alex Proyas had to rewrite scenes and use special effects to complete the film in the wake of the death of Lee, who was the son of late film icon Bruce Lee.
"The Crow" was followed by three sequels and a TV series.
