Bounce TV, a network geared toward an African American audience, says an agreement with Fox Television has given it a Los Angeles affiliate.
With Fox also launching the network in New York and Baltimore in addition to Los Angeles, Bounce TV is now available in the top five markets in the country and has access to almost 75 percent of African American homes in the United States, Broadcasting and Cable reported Friday.
Bounce TV debuted Sept. 26 with programming geared to African-Americans in the 25-54 age range, an older demographic than the age group primarily targeted by the Viacom-owned cable network BET.
"We are very grateful to the Fox Television Stations group for bringing Bounce TV into these important markets," said Martin Luther King III, member of Bounce TV's founding group and board of directors.
"By launching Bounce TV, Fox is demonstrating their significant commitment to serving minority consumers by ensuring that the African American community has access to free, culturally relevant and entertaining programming for many years to come," King III said.
Other board members include former U.N. ambassador and Democratic Georgia Congressman Andrew Young and his son, Andrew "Bo" Young III.
