Some give up chocolate for Lent, but an archdiocese in Britain has prepared a booklet with other suggestions for sacrifice.

"Love Life Live Lent," a booklet prepared by the archdiocese of Birmingham, offers 50 suggestions for Lent including: joining an environmental group; leaving a few dollars in the supermarket cart for someone else to find; or hugging someone who needs it, the Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.
The booklet has the approval of Archbishop of York John Sentamu, who used to head the Birmingham archdiocese.
The booklet also recommends: helping a bug out of the house rather than squashing it; buying a low-energy light bulb; and buying something for someone anonymously.
