'Bold and the Beautiful' star Lorenzo Lamas to make cabaret debut

UPI News Service, 10/25/2006

"The Bold and the Beautiful" star Lorenzo Lamas will jump from the soap stage to the New York cabaret stage with "Lorenzo Sings About Love."

Broadway icon Michael Feinstein helped the son of Arlene Dahl and Fernando Lamas prepare the show opening at Feinstein's at the Regency on Oct. 31, reported.

"It has been incredibly thrilling to embark on a new artistic journey at this stage in my career," Lamas, 48, said. He said his collaboration with Feinstein was "the opportunity of a lifetime."

Lamas said he was "discovered" during a dinner party Feinstein hosted last year.

"My mother was there, as was Michele Lee, Lorna Luft, Doris Roberts," he said. "After dinner ... Michael started an impromptu musical concert. He played, then Michele sang, then Lorna, my mom."

The "Falcon Crest" star jumped in an sang a tune of his own, after which Feinstein praised his pipes and told him to keep practicing "because you never know where opportunities may come from."

Lamas got a call from Feinstein's six months later offering him the booking Oct. 31-Nov. 11, he said.

As for "The Bold and The Beautiful," Lamas said he remained under contract with the CBS daytime drama "so they have first dibs" on his career.
