Bill Nighy, Catherine Keener, Ed Westwick to star in BBC's 'Ordeal By Innocence'

UPI News Service, 07/11/2017

Bill Nighy, Catherine Keener, Matthew Goode and Ed Westwick are to star in the BBC's three-part adaptation of Agatha Christie's 1958 mystery novel, "Ordeal By Innocence."

The ensemble for the miniseries -- which is to begin filming in Scotland this month -- will also include Eleanor Tomlinson, Anthony Boyle, Luke Treadaway, Morven Christie, Crystal Clarke, Ella Purnell, and Alice Eve.

The project follows last December's "The Witness for the Prosecution" and 2015's "And Then There Were None" -- both of which were based on Christie's works and became critical successes for BBC One.

Sandra Goldbacher is directing the latest installment, which, like the others, was written and produced by Sarah Phelps.

"Sarah Phelps has excelled herself with this spellbinding adaptation of one of Agatha Christie's most celebrated stories. A gloriously dark deconstruction of an apparently perfect family, we hope it delights and chills viewers when it airs!" Damien Timmer, executive producer of Mammoth Screen, said in a statement Wednesday.

James Prichard, executive producer and executive chairman of Agatha Christie Limited, added: "Ordeal By Innocence was one of Christie's personal favorites and I cannot wait to see how this outstanding cast will bring her story to life under the skillful direction of Sandra Goldbacher and the Mammoth Screen production team. To have Bill Nighy and Catherine Keener head up this all-star cast really is a testament to the depth and quality of my great grandmother's writing."

"We're delighted to be continuing our special relationship with Agatha Christie on BBC One. Sarah Phelps' stunningly crafted adaptation of this wonderful novel has attracted a brilliantly stellar cast and will thrill audiences," remarked Gaynor Holmes, BBC executive producer.
