Big Brother Head of Household Vanessa Rousso nominated two people for eviction during Sunday night's broadcast on CBS.

The episode began with the remainder of the HoH competition. Liz Nolan was praying John McGuire wouldn't win the opportunity to re-enter the house because she had gotten rid of him with the help of Austin Matelson and Julia Nolan. Still, the HoH competition came down to Vanessa and John. John won his way back into the house and Vanessa won HoH.

As the new Head of Household, Vanessa was ready to redraw lines and flip the house. She said anything was on the table. John was happy knowing Vanessa was on his side because she knew she was on the bottom of the totem pole when it came to her alliance with Austin and the twins.

Liz told Austin that Vanessa better nominate John for eviction. Meg Maley and James Huling thought Austin and the twins were bigger threats than they were, so they felt pretty safe.

Vanessa planned to make a three-person side alliance with John and Steve Moses. She had made amends with Steve prior to John's eviction, and Steve felt good about their relationship.

Vanessa wanted to target James but needed to figure out whether Austin really intended to take her to the Final 5. Vanessa questioned whether Austin would really continue to have her back. Although Austin and the twins were close to Meg and James, Vanessa told the threesome she didn't feel good about them and she had to do what was best for her own game.

However, Austin and the twins eventually came around once Vanessa explained James was a big physical threat and so it was important to get him out as soon as possible. Vanessa also revealed the power couple had been talking about going after them. Liz therefore no longer trusted Meg and James.

Austin then asked Liz if she'd officially be his girlfriend. She replied, "Yes, I will be your girlfriend." Liz was on Cloud 9 but joked how necessary it was going to be for Austin to dump his girlfriend at home.

Meanwhile, Vanessa lied to Meg and James about how John was her target and she just needed a pawn. Both Meg and James argued about going up on the chopping block in order to save each other. Their bickering made Vanessa even more sure they needed to be split up because they acted like an old married couple.

James told Vanessa he'd be willing to go after Austin and the twins next week if he won HoH, however, he gave her no reason to want to betray them. Vanessa figured her "Austin's Angels" alliance was sound as a result. James thought it was a great suggestion because he'd basically be doing Vanessa's dirty work for her.

Prior to the Nomination Ceremony, James remembered how he had made a deal with Vanessa on Day 44. Vanessa promised James she'd keep him safe right up through the Final 7 -- as well as one other person of his choice. Part of James wanted to remind Vanessa of the agreement, but he didn't want to bring it up in case she had no intention to nominate him and Meg.

Once the Nomination Ceremony commenced, Vanessa announced she had decided to nominate Meg and James for eviction. Vanessa compared them to the King and Queen in a chess game, mentioning how the King can't function without her.

Meg felt played, but Vanessa thought she'd be leaving the week in a more favorable position than when the week began.
