The track is available exclusively on iTunes. It debuted on Thursday's edition of CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight."
Beyonce, Greenwood and Columbia Records are donating their proceeds from the sale of the single to the New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund.
Beyonce announced the song's release because she was "moved by recent news events and the re-opened wounds of 9/11 families," her record label said.
President Barack Obama announced Sunday U.S. forces had killed Osama bin Laden, the terrorist leader who orchestrated the deadly Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington.
"I cannot think about anything more appropriate to do to help these families," Beyonce said in a statement. "Almost 10 years later, it is still so painful for all Americans, especially those who lost loved ones."
"On behalf of New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund's Board of Directors and the families of our fallen heroes, we are truly grateful for Beyonce's choice to support our charity," added Stephen J. Dannhauser, chairman of the New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund.
