Betting house halts wagering on identity of new James Bond actor

Britain's Ladbrokes betting house has stopped wagers on who will be the next James Bond, the Sun reported Thursday.

Ladbrokes halted the activity after what appeared to be a possible sting: in less than one hour they took in six bets of as much as $940 each that Colin Salmon would be the first black 007. That crashed the odds from 20-1 to 6-1.

Colin, 42, has played M's right-hand man in the last three Bond films.

He also has stood in for outgoing 007 Pierce Brosnan when women were being auditioned.
