The Bethenny Ever After star has announced she and her husband of nearly three years, Jason Hoppy, are separating.
"It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating. This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family," Frankel said in a statement obtained by People on Sunday.
"We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and will always remain our first priority. This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us."
The former Bethenny's Getting Married? and The Real Housewives of New York City star got engaged in October 2009 and later wed Hoppy in March 2010. The pair welcomed a daughter, two-year-old Bryn Hoppy, shortly afterwards.
The Bethenny Ever After series showed footage of Hoppy and Frankel -- who first appeared on reality TV when she competed on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart in 2005 -- struggling in their marriage, and reports have circulated for months that the couple was on the verge of calling it quits.
However, Frankel told People in July they had every reason to remain optimistic about staying together.
"I think we have what it takes to make it work. I don't have a backup plan. It's not like shopping for shoes and getting a new pair. That's not what it's about," she explained at the time.
"We've been scared. The second year of marriage was not easy. We hit bottom, [but] we came out the other side."
