U.S. actor Ben Affleck is in talks to play wealthy cheating husband Tom Buchanan in a new big-screen adaptation of the 1920s classic book "The Great Gatsby."
The Hollywood Reporter said Affleck is in talks for the role, but has to work out a scheduling conflict with his upcoming movie "Argo," which he is to start directing in September, if he is going to play the part of Tom.
Leonardo DiCaprio has already been cast as the title character in "Gatsby," Tobey Maguire is to play writer Nick Caraway and Carey Mulligan is to play Tom's wife and Gatsby's love interest, Daisy.
Australian director Baz Luhrmann is to start helming the 3D picture for Warner Bros. in August, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
