The clip, released Friday, features a new take on The Dark Knight and other DC Comics characters from Gotham City as Batman and his team of Nightwing, Robin, Alfred and others fight for a way to return home.

Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Penguin and Gorilla Grodd also make appearances.

The plot of the film revolves around Batman attempting to stop The Joker and his minions from altering the future of Japan.

"Batmobile and Batwing [are] both gone but I still have this body," Batman says in the Japanese-language trailer that provides English subtitles as the hero puts on a suit of armor and swords.

The full-length feature is a collaboration between Warner Bros. Japan and DC Entertainment.

"Batman Ninja" is directed by Jumpei Mizusaki of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fame with Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki serving as character designer.

"Batman Ninja" will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan in 2018.
