A musician inspired by the public pianos installed at New York parks and public spaces was on a quest Monday to play 29 pianos in a single day.

J. Roddy Walston, 29, said he and his rock band, The Business, planned to work their way through the 29 pianos installed in Manhattan as part of a program that includes 60 pianos across the city, the New York Daily News reported.

"I thought we should blaze through New York and play as many of the pianos as possible," he said.

Walston, who splits his time between Baltimore and Richmond, Va., said he planned to spend about 12 minutes with each piano.

The pianos were installed across the city by British artist Luke Jerram for his "Play Me, I'm Yours," campaign, sponsored by the Sing for Hope charity.
