At 266 pounds and 3 feet tall, the latest arrival at the Indianapolis Zoo is a nice size for a newborn elephant.

The zoo gave the news media a look at the 5-day-old calf Tuesday, an African elephant that has yet to be named, the Indianapolis Star reported.
"She is very curious and very strong," elephant trainer Tim Littig said. "She definitely likes to nurse and she knows where to get it."
While the calf posed for television cameras and explored the camera operators with her trunk, her mother Ivory took a break outside.
David Hagan, curator of the zoo's African Plains exhibit, said the calf and her mother will be allowed to develop a strong bond before they go back on public display.
