UPI News Service, 02/01/2012

An Ohio woman said her baby was born in the front seat of her car when her mother was pulled over for speeding on the way to the hospital.

Debbie Richmond said her mother, Donna, was driving her and her husband, Randall Altman, to the hospital about 4 a.m. Tuesday in Waverly when the vehicle was pulled over for speeding, WBNS-TV, Columbus, reported Wednesday.

"I kind of just screamed, 'I'm in labor,' and mom said, 'Can I drive 60 miles per hour?' [The trooper] said, 'I can't tell you that,'" Richmond said.

However, Richmond said the point turned out to be moot as her daughter, Sarah Lynn Altman, was born in the front seat of her Hyundai before they could continue on to the hospital.

Richmond, who was taken with her new baby to Mount Carmel West Hospital, said her mother was not issued a ticket.
