The founder of New York City Atheists says he does not believe that most atheists mind the religion-heavy holiday season.

Josh Karpf said atheists, who are estimated to make up about 11 percent of the population in the United States, don't seem to have any more problems with the holidays than religious people do, New York's Newsday reported Friday.
"Some (atheists) get curmudgeonly and Grinchy about the commercial pop-culture omnipresence of religion this time of year but religious people complain just as much about repetitive songs and crowds," Karpf said.
"Why get offended at something that is super-prevalent and that people have the right to do?" he asked.
Besides, Karpf told Newsday, there are some benefits to the season that even atheists can enjoy.
"The food is absolutely fantastic around the religious holidays," he said.
